Sneak Peek: Roles & Permissions in the New Ares Web Client 06/09/2026

The new browser-based Ares client is taking shape, and we're pulling back the curtain on one of its most-requested capabilities: a redesigned roles and permissions system.
Join the Atlas Systems Ares product team for a live preview. We'll walk through how the new client lets you control who can see and do what, show how access is configured and managed in real time, and answer your questions live. Because this is a preview of a feature still in development, your feedback can directly shape what ships.

Congratulations to John Brunswick, who has retired from Atlas as of April 30th! Please join us in wishing John continued happiness as he begins retirement. As one of the very first Atlas employees, John will be greatly missed — but after almost 24 years on the team, he has certainly earned the chance to enjoy this next chapter, which includes moving back to Cleveland to be closer to family.

John started out as one of our first ILLiad customers before joining Atlas. In his time here, he has delivered initial (and recurring) training for a large percentage of our ILLiad customers — including countless retellings of the famous "Ham Story." Through it all, he has been a respected member of the Resource Sharing community, contributing to several committees and organizations along the way.

Thank you, John, for your commitment to Atlas. We wish you all the best going forward.

Atlas Systems will be in the exhibit hall at MARAC Spring 2026 (April 30 – May 2) at the Omni Richmond Hotel, and we're bringing some exciting news along for the ride. Here's a preview of what we'll be talking about:

🔹 A New Era for Aeon — If you've been waiting for something new from Aeon, your wait is almost over. We're previewing the Aeon staff web client — a modern, browser-based interface that frees staff from desktop installations and brings reading room management into the browser. It's one of the most meaningful updates to the platform in years, and we'd love your thoughts. Come talk to us!

🔹 ArchivesSpace Services — From first-time implementations to complex data migrations and workflow refinements, the Atlas team has the experience to meet your institution where it is. Let's talk about how we can help you get more out of ArchivesSpace.

🔹 Say Hello to Cardea — We're introducing Cardea, a brand-new standalone access control system designed from the ground up for libraries, archives, and secure research environments. Cardea manages badge issuance, logs facility access in real time, supports badge printing, and integrates directly with Aeon — so your researcher clearance data is always up to date across both systems.
Whether you're a longtime Atlas customer or just getting curious, we'd love to connect. Visit atlas-sys.com/connectwithus to schedule time with our team before the conference.

See you in Richmond! 🏛️

This is one of the biggest advancements to Aeon in years, and we can't wait to share it with you.

🔹 ArchivesSpace Services — Whether you're just getting started with ArchivesSpace or looking to improve your current setup, our team offers implementation support, data migration, workflow customization, and ongoing assistance tailored to your institution.

The items in your collections are irreplaceable. The systems protecting them should be too.

Atlas Systems is exhibiting at IFCPP 2026 in New Orleans, April 19–20. Stop by to learn how Aeon and Cardea work together to give institutions controlled, documented access to your collections.

Aeon manages researcher requests, material handling, and workflow tracking so every interaction is documented and accountable. Cardea brings software-based badge access and visitor management to your reading room, without tying you to proprietary hardware.

We'd love to talk about what controlled access looks like for your institution. Find us at the conference April 18–22, or reach out anytime at atlas-sys.com.
