Proverbs 31 Wannabe
Seeking to lift up women in a world full of chaos through real life stories, faith, and laughter.

I love it when a Saturday walk on the beach becomes a homeschool enrichment opportunity as well as a time to praise God. This past Saturday we went down to Sandbridge for the morning and took a beautiful walk. We were able to talk to the kids about what type of creatures God made that live at the beach as well as hunt for seashells. Although Collette was really disappointed we didn’t see any pirates (which opened the door to talk about local history), mermaids ( which opened the door about stories verses truth), or dolphins, we did see pelicans, seagulls, crabs, and the beauty of the Earth that our Lord spoke into existence. Learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom or building, it happens all around us!

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,”
1 Peter 3:18 ESV
This is a wonderful verse because it is the essence of the Good News of the Gospel. My prayer is that you take the time to reflect on the love and mercy of God.

🐑 “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.”
Psalm 25:4-5 ESV
Today during our Lent Bible study, my son and I had an amazing opportunity to reflect on the first five verses of psalm 25. Part of the instructions was to look at versus four and five specifically and insert your name into the verses as a way of praying to God. My son and I had this opportunity to talk about what it means to fully trust God, even when things don’t always make sense in the world. We are at a point in our family, where we will be experiencing the loss of my grandfather soon and although it is hard, these versus are a tremendous gift from God because it’s been a reminder to me that no matter what happens in this world, I can lift my soul up to the Lord and he will lead me if I allow Him to.

🌈 “When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.””
Genesis 9:16 ESV
My son and I continued reflecting on the covenant that God made with Noah this morning during our Lent Bible study time. One thing that really stood out as we were reflecting on this passage of scripture is that the bow in the sky is not only a reminder for us about the covenant but it is also a reminder for God. I found that word. It’s very interesting because God is all knowing and the creator of literally everything. This really demonstrates to us how Our God is a faithful and trusting and loving God, who always keeps His promise.
Our Lord also has given us another sign for us to remember his covenantal love with us, and that is the cross. It is through the cross that we can remember the sacrifice that Jesus gave so that we can be truly and fully redeemed.
Lent Day 8

““Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you,”
Genesis 9:9 ESV
Today during our lent Bible study, I had the opportunity to talk to my son about how God always keeps his promises. We read through Genesis 9 where God is speaking to Noah after the flood, and is cutting a covenant with him. It is a beautiful reminder to all of humanity that our God is a patient, merciful, and awesome God who loves his creation.
Lent Day 7

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ESV
What I love about today’s is how this passage in Ecclesiastes ties into one of the overarching themes of the Bible: fear the Lord and obey Him. I feel like many people have a misunderstanding of what it means when it says “fear the Lord” but from my study it seems to be to be in such awe and wander that you revere the Lord. In another passage of scripture we read that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Do you want to be like the wise man described throughout proverbs or the woman of folly? When we seek the Lord and repent of our sins, we are able to be clothed in the grace of Jesus and our judgment will be clean because we are washed white as snow. My prayer is that as a mom I am able to be the example to my children of living in a way that honors God.

“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV
What is it that anchors you? Who do you go to with all aspects of life? As a believer in Messiah, my first response should be the Lord. But I know that I’m not perfect in this. Sometimes I turn to influencers, or to food, or worse inward. Too often I try to rely on my own understanding of things instead of turning to the One who made everything. This verse is a solid reminder of who we should always turn to. He is our strength!
Lent Day 5

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 ESV
In a world that says to “live your truth” and that any lifestyle is “good”, this verse is a fantastic counterpoint to the lies that Satan has encouraged in our culture. Fame is not the way to heaven. Lust won’t get you to heaven. Islam is not the way to the Father. Power cannot make you like God. ONLY when you repent of your sins and confess that Jesus is Lord can you have eternal life with the Father.

“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”
Psalm 51:12 ESV
Lent day 3

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
Psalm 51:17 ESV
Lent Day 2
I love it when my verse for today happened to correspond with the Lent study I’m doing with my son. We had a great conversation about what contrite meant and how God forgives when we come to Him with all our heart. Great teaching moment 💕

““Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”
Isaiah 58:6 ESV
Today is and the start of the Lenten season of deep prayer 🙏 now is a perfect time to draw back to the Lord in a deep way. I pray that over the next forty days leading up to Holy Week and Easter that we can come together as a community and reflect and draw near to the God who saves.
