VHS Automotive Program

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of the Automotive Program's students past and present! May your day be filled with JOY and LOVE, and the upcoming year be filled with good health and prosperity!

I am sorry that I have neglected the FB page for the program over the past year. As many may know I was injured at school doing the job I loved for 20+ years and now have passed the torch to a very good man and former student (2010 graduate) Mr. David Worden! He has been doing a tremendous job and I hope that he has as many wonderful memories with his students as I have had with my own.

Over the next six (6) moths I will dedicate time during my recovery to post every photo and memory of the past 20 years and then "pass the torch" of this FB page to David.

It has been my HONOR and PRIVILEGE to have known all of you. May your lives be filled with purpose and great memories of your own families and children. "Enjoy the Ride"!

I look forward hearing from you all who follow and letting me know how you are doing.

Moments from our Annual Auto Shop Barbeque!

Today students past and present stopped by to share stories and experiences of their time in the VHS Automotive Program over the past 20 years. Some came with their wives and children and some by themselves. The new instructor taking over is David Worden. David was one of my 2010 graduates and 2 time SkillsUSA gold metal winner. The memories shared today will stay with me forever! Thank you all!

VHS AUTOMOTIVE STUDENTS ABIGAIL GORDILLO AND TYLER WILSON GOT UP EARLY (5AM) AND BRAVED THE WEATHER AND COMPETED AT THE 2020 NJCAR TECHNICIAN COMPETITION AT BROOKDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN NORTH JERSEY. STUDENT COMPETITORS COMPETED IN 8 VEHICLE SYSTEM AREAS SHOWING WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HUNTINGTON COUNTY POLYTECH FOR THE WIN AND WE WISH THEM WELL AS THEY COMPETE AT THE NY AUTO SHOW AT THE JAVITS CENTER LATER THIS YEAR.

ON SATURDAY JANUARY 11TH, FOUR VHS AUTOMOTIVE STUDENTS MADE THE 1.5 HOUR DRIVE TO EXTON PENNSYLVANIA TO PARTICIPATE IN UTI'S SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION.

TEAMS WERE COMPRISED TWO (2) AUTOMOTIVE STUDENTS PER TEAM.

VHS AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAM'S TEAMS WERE:
SENIOR ABIGAIL GORDILLO AND JUNIOR JOANNAH MENDEZ AND SENIORS TYLER WILSON AND RODNY MAURAS. ALTHOUGH THESE YOUNG WOMEN AND MEN DID NOT MEDAL IN THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION, THEY GAINED ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR TECHNIQUES AND MET MANY OTHER STUDENTS FROM HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE NJ, PA, DE, AND MD AREAS.
