One year ago, I held you for the first time, and in that moment, my world shifted in ways I could never have imagined. You were so small, so fragile, and yet you had already transformed me into someone new. I became a “girldad”, a role that both terrified and inspired me.

This past year has been a journey of discovery. I’ve learned so much about you, but maybe even more about myself. I’ve realized that being your dad means embracing vulnerability in a way I never thought possible. There’s a part of me that wants to protect you from everything, to shield you from the hurts and hardships of the world. But I also know that part of loving you means allowing you to face those challenges, to grow from them, even when it breaks my heart.

I’ve had moments of doubt, times when I’ve questioned if I’m good enough, strong enough, or wise enough to be the father you deserve. But every time I see your smile, hear your laugh, or watch you take on the world with that fierce little spirit of yours, reminding me so much of Moana, I’m reminded that love is what matters most. And I have that in abundance for you.

You’ve taught me that it’s okay to be imperfect, to make mistakes, and to learn along the way. You’ve shown me that being a dad isn’t about having all the answers, but about being PRESENT, being there for you in the small moments and the big ones.
