I had an idea for a t-shirt that I knew my principal would love. I sent him the mockup late last week, and he requested to have his ready to wear today!

It's crunch time, everyone! Maria has been placed on the transplant list to receive a new liver! If you didn't see my post a few weeks ago, Maria has been battling stage 4 nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. The price of a liver transplant is approximately $900,000; however, after insurance, Maria and JD will be left to pay nearly $90,000. This is a large cost layered on top of Maria's extended hospital stays, medications, appointments, gas, parking, and everything else associated with being ill.

I had the privilege of coteaching with Maria at South Paulding Middle School and the honor of becoming friends from that. She has been unable to return to the classroom since her illness began one year ago, which created financial hardship for her family. Her husband, JD, served the community for years with the Cobb County Police Department, and he now serving as Maria's caretaker.

In efforts to help raise funds for these expenses, Tired Teacher Designs is hosting a Maria Strong t-shirt fundraiser where all proceeds will benefit Maria and JD. Please consider purchasing a shirt using the form linked below. T-shirts are $25, but additional donations are always welcome!
