Why I Do What I Do
One of my passions from a very young age has always been to enjoy good, healthy food and natural living. Spending time in the kitchen with my mom cooking and baking, and running, cycling, or hiking with my dad. And, like many Gen X teenage girls, dieting and aerobic classes were at the forefront of getting as slim as possible and looking good no matter what you were wearing. This turned into the chronic behavior of under-eating and over-training, with no long term satisfaction, and remaining intimidated by models on the covers of magazines. I was also curious about the role nutrition played in performing your best and living a wholesome and long life.
You would think that I would choose a career aligned with my passion. Instead, I followed in my dad’s footsteps – who is a plant pathologist, I pursued a college degree in horticulture. Upon graduation, I received an award allowing me to select an international destination to further my education. I had always had a desire to visit Israel, and subsequently was blessed to work in a nursery on a kibbutz for several months. After my return home, I invested in some bookkeeping courses to gain some basic business skills. Although I never found my career choices fulfilling, they did serve me well financially.
CHANGING COURSE
While continuing to have this deep and nagging desire to change course and pursue more knowledge in health and wellness, I became deeply disturbed seeing so many people suffer with issues that could easily be resolved by returning to the basics of how we were intended to eat and live.
One of the first nutrition/biography books I ever read was “The Maker’s Diet” by Jordan Rubin. His remarkable account of how food was the turning point from his impending death to superlative health, made a huge impression on me. Since then, I have found myself reading books and different opinions on food, nutrition, fitness, and other health topics instead of magazines or novels. I couldn’t help sharing this information with others when an opportunity would present itself.
Unlike many health coaches, I have not suffered from an illness that catapulted me on this journey. Instead, I found myself spending time researching answers to help my colleagues, friends, and family who often approached me with questions regarding nutrition, or a health issue they were dealing with. More specifically, my husband - after he lost 40 pounds and looked emaciated - was told that medication would be the only means of managing his IBS. Through prayer and using nutritious and healing foods, and some lifestyle changes, we were thankfully able to completely reverse his IBS.
This fueled my desire to pursue an education in health and wellness even more, so that I could serve and help people on a deeper level. Since an ancestral approach to health and wellness has always resonated with me, finding the Primal Health Coach Institute was an answer to my prayers, and my formal education began!
MY MISSION
My entire mission is to help educate my clients on lifestyle and nutrition fundamentals that work with their body. Helping them understand health on a far deeper level than just weight and body composition, and that food not only nourishes our body, but controls gene expression so that we don’t necessarily have to suffer from our familial predispositions.
I see so many women not flourishing today due to stubborn weight gain, high blood sugar, digestive disorders, stress and confusion on what the best diet is to support a healthy lifestyle. I believe that God created food for our enjoyment, nourishment, and medicine for our bodies. I do not believe that there is a perfect diet. What works for one person, most likely won’t work for someone else since we are all unique individuals.
I am excited and passionate about helping my clients reach their goals and putting their health back at the top of their priority list. And I delight in their success to live and enjoy the happy and healthy life that they deserve!

Ever wonder how much protein you need?
Many (including myself), agree that a minimum of 100 grams/day is necessary but an optimal amount would be 0.7-1 grams per pound of your ideal body weight. This also depends on factors such as your activity level, recovery after surgery or injury etc.
