Will Rogers kept his Polo ponies in our pastures and the Main House provided inspiration for the architecture of his home near the Pacific Palisades. Our Main House is an architectural gem designed by the famed architect John Byers. Photos and history of the Main House are chronicled in the gracious living books, Rancho Deluxe and Mediterranean Houses In America. Byers incorporated many unique features such as hand-hewed railroad ties and authentic corral posts for the living room balcony, and sun baked 18 inch thick adobe bricks for the structure. Each tile gracing the rooftop was individually molded "over the leg" in true western style. Built in 1929, this large adobe house sleeps 10 in 6 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms. We invite you to make this stunning historic place your home away from home, as we have for four generations. As it has been since 1929, our Main House is available with "portals open wide" for families, friends, birders, hikers, conversationalists and businesses and groups of all kinds (up to 32 people), to come and experience life from an elegant bygone era. Whether you're in the spectacular living room, its 3 dining rooms, its den or its many bedrooms, you'll be transported to another time where comfort, reflection and conversation reign. Outside, on the expansive patio, you can comfortably entertain friends and family even as you are treated to one of the nicest views anywhere. Enjoy the many guest ranch amenities. Besides the Main House, there are 10 additional adobe guest rooms available, each with 2-3 beds and its own bathroom. Step outside any of these rooms and you will see the timeless beauty spread before you of the pastures, valley and mountains beyond. In hot weather, enjoy the cool refreshment of our 40 by 100 foot swimming pool, cabana and outdoor BBQ, or the tennis/basketball court. Our ranch sits next to the Mojave Narrows Regional Park, where you can stroll through the cottonwood forest lining the Mojave River. Bird watchers will scarcely believe the enormous variety of birds that frequent the area (over 250 species). The ranch's unique location provides an opportunity to see wildlife of all sorts, including desert animals and birds as well as riparian migrants. Every season has its own special pleasure. The desert light delights each season. Spanning from summer gold, to bright spring emerald, to the shady outlines of the mountain tops brought by winter months. Meet the desert heat of summer by cooling off in our 100' X 40' pool, or hiking in the shade of the cottonwoods growing along the Mojave River. Fall brings the crisp air of the high desert and a rich, golden hue to the forest trees and surrounding pastures. Enjoy the impressive brick fireplaces in the Main House on cold winter days. Marvel in the verdant rebirth of spring as the pastures glitter with greenery and the desert comes into bloom. The ranch has always been a magical place.
