Control, control and when you forget, CONTROL! True martial artist always strive for Control with minimal destruction. First of all, control of themselves. Anger clouds the ability to handle situations effectively. You must control your body as well as the reactions that are triggered by it. You must also strive to control the negative environment that you may find yourself in. Always have a plan, it may not be a perfect plan, but always have a plan and a Plan B.

There is power when people unite in one accord to help each other become stronger. The history of the Kyu Shin Ryu that is taught at our school is a testimony to this. 4 Martial arts masters came together in Victoria from different styles to create a system that would put together a comprehensive system that encompass areas of striking arts, Judo, Jujitsu, Kali, and traditional as well as contemporary weapons. I introduced Aikido into the system in 2006. We have grown and have chapters of this Ryu in varios areas and other states led by quality KSR Instructors. The work is worth it!

I absolutely love the picture of the blue belt, Jayda, helping the two white belts get their technique right in the beginners class. They look up to her with respect and seeking guidance. She gives it freely. At the end of the day building relationships, assisting others, and being able to take instruction from those above you is very critical skill in life. Respect is a cornerstone of life, which should never be overlooked or underestimated.  Engage in a life of integrity above all else.
