The StoryWalk® has moved!
Visit Point Robinson and read Otter Doesn't Know by Andrea Fritz, a Coast Salish artist and storyteller. Thuqi' (sockeye salmon) and Tumus (sea otter) don't have all the answers, but they learn to be good friends to one another. While you read the book, learn some words in the Hul'q'umi'num' language. The pretty purple salmonberry flowers we saw today will be ripening into tasty berries soon, so come back often! This StoryWalk will be up for the months of May and June before moving on.
Go to https://1.kcls.org/OtterDoesntKnowStoryWalk for a pin to follow on Google Maps.
The StoryWalk® was created and installed by Vashon Library staff in partnership with Vashon Park District, and funded by Vashon Friends of the Library. It was crafted from two new books -- not copies -- and presents the whole work without changing, adding, or omitting anything.
Why StoryWalks®? Some kids love to sit still and will read indoors for hours. Some kids love to move their bodies and will play outdoors all day. StoryWalks® help both kids of kids (and everyone in between!) encourage healthy habits for their bodies and minds, while increasing appreciation for the natural world. A walk in the forest while reading a book is good for your whole self!
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
