this is a grassroots community group made up of people and businesses from all over clark county washington

no one knows a neighborhood or community as well as the people who live there! we are a normal group of hard working people who understand it is our responsibility to look after our communities - because no one else will do as good a job! We want a few things for everyone: clean air, clean water, clean soil and the right to be involved in any planning that negatively impacts Clark County

Is it cheaper to refuel your EV battery or gas tank? We did the math in all 50 states. I wanted to compare the cost of recharging an electric car versus filling up a gas tank in all 50 states. Here's what I found.

Clark County CAG Report.
This is the first year that any county is required to comply with the Climate Amendment to the GMA. Clark County is the largest of four counties required to do so this year.
The amended GMA requires us to:
1. reduce greenhouse gas emissions
2. reduce per-capita vehicle miles traveled
3. develop a plan for resilience to the impacts of climate change
The County appointed 20 community members to draft implementing recommendations for the Planning Commission to consider. I was appointed to that committee.
The county also appointed about 15 community members to an EJ committee. The EJ committee provides input to the committee I was on. The County also hired 5 consultants to help.
I applaud staff for their consensus-based approach. Our advisory group included representation from The Builders, The Realtors, the Chamber of Commerce, the fossil fuel industry, and the environmental community. In spite of our diverse interests, there was much we could all agree on unanimously, 151 goals and policies altogether.
On April 14, the County posted our final set of ~ 150 recommendations on their website. https://clark.wa.gov/sites/default/files/media/document/2025-04/2025-0407-draft-climate-element-policies-reflects-cag-meeting-12-outcomes.pdf

The planning commission will make recommendations to the County Council. Then the Council will have a 30-day comment period and adopt the final comp plan in December.
