Sound sensitivities can look different for everyone.
It’s not always about how loud a sound is. Some people may find certain pitches, patterns, or everyday noises uncomfortable or overwhelming, even when the volume seems low.
Learning about the different types of sound intolerance can make a big difference. With understanding and small adjustments, families and caregivers can help create calmer, more peaceful spaces for everyone.
If your family could use guidance or support in this area, our therapists are here to help. Contact us to set up an appointment—we’d be glad to work with you.

About Us
Wonder Tree Developmental Psychology and Wyldwood Prep are sister programs dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children and families through both mental health care and experiential education.
Wonder Tree is a group psychology practice specializing in trauma-informed, brain-based care, psychological testing, and therapy for children, teens, and families.
Wyldwood Prep is a nature-based micro-school designed for neurodivergent and twice-exceptional learners. Our students thrive through movement, play, project-based learning, and time outdoors.
Together, we’re building an ecosystem of care that honors the whole child — mind, body, and spirit.
The Role
We’re looking for a creative, compassionate, and adaptable team member who can support our outdoor learning community at Wyldwood Prep in the mornings and contribute to our clinical work at Wonder Tree in the afternoons.
This is an ideal position for a graduate student or pre-licensed clinician interested in gaining experience in both educational and clinical settings.
Responsibilities
At Wyldwood Prep (9am–1pm Tues–Thurs): - Support children ages 5–12 in a small-group, outdoor learning environment.
- Assist with social-emotional skill building and sensory regulation.
- Participate in nature-based STEM, art, and movement activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to support individualized learning goals.
- Help document student progress and observations.
At Wonder Tree (Flexible Afternoon Hours): - Conduct testing or psychometric support (administer cognitive, achievement, and social-emotional measures under supervision).
- Assist with scoring, data entry, and report preparation.
- Support therapy intakes, resource coordination, or administrative organization as needed.
- Participate in team consultation meetings and receive supervision/training in trauma-informed, brain-based care.
Ideal Candidate
You might be a great fit if you: - Are pursuing or have completed a degree in psychology, education, counseling, or social work.
- Have experience working with neurodivergent children or in outdoor/experiential learning settings.
- Are grounded, flexible, and calm under pressure.
- Love being outdoors (in all seasons!).
- Are curious about bridging mental health and education.
- Thrive in dynamic, mission-driven environments.
Training & Growth Opportunities
We provide training in:
- Trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
- Sensory regulation and co-regulation strategies.
- Psychological testing administration and interpretation.
- Nature-based and brain-based learning models.
This role can grow into a clinical externship, internship, or full-time position within Wonder Tree or Wyldwood, depending on licensure and fit.
(Wonder Tree Developmental Psychology and Wyldwood Prep are equal opportunity employers. We value inclusion, diversity, and creating environments where all children — and staff — can thrive.)

Wonder Tree Book Recommendation: The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson explains how parents can better understand and support their child’s developing brain. The book describes how different parts of the brain—emotional (right) and logical (left), as well as upper (thinking) and lower (reactive)—work together, and offers practical strategies to help integrate them. Through simple techniques like “connect and redirect” and “name it to tame it,” it teaches parents how to respond calmly to emotional outbursts, build emotional intelligence, and foster resilience and healthy relationships.
If you'd like to speak with someone on how to apply these tools with your child, we are here to help. Please reach out to make an appointment with Wonder Tree today. Our contact information is in the comments below.
