Olympic gold medalist figure skater Alysa Liu said she grew up in a politically active household and attended protests with her family, crediting her father for their liberal outlook. In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Saturday, Liu said their activism included demonstrations related to climate issues, elections, Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, and protests against ICE.
At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, Alysa Liu captured gold in the women’s figure skating final in February, becoming the first American woman in 24 years to win Olympic gold in the event.
