Is there any truth to pulling tail feathers after breeding is over is beneficial?

We shipped a 1000 mile race. On 07/11 the birds were released from Utah. On the 12th the heatwave hit. 90-100 degree temperatures everyday. Then 4 days ago the smoke from the Canadian fires hit them. These birds had every horrible conditions to fly home in. Today we clocked a Beautiful BC c**k i just nicknamed Johnny Utah. No other birds I know have made yet. What incredible stamina and heart ❤️ he has. He is off our 600 mile grizzle c**k who won the 600 coming at 9:10 pm in the dark. The only daybird that day in the race, out of a super Houben hen. Congrats 👏 Johnny Utah you showed us what you have and have earned a place in our breeding loft for as long as you live.
