Today we welcomed a very special new arrival to the Funky Family.
This tiny Red Golden Pheasant chick came to us from our friends at Highcrest Farms. The chick was left on their property when it was less than 24 hours old. They reached out to us for help, as they don’t typically work with many birds.
This precious little angel is now approximately 36 hours old. Unfortunately, the chick is experiencing some mobility issues, which I’ll talk more about in my next post.
We have an appointment tomorrow at the Medical Center for Birds so this little one can be thoroughly evaluated and receive the care it needs.
If you would like to help with the cost of the medical appointment and ongoing care, our Venmo and PayPal information can be found in the comments below.
As always, thank you for supporting our rescue and helping us give animals like this tiny baby a chance at a healthy future. ❤️🐣✨

Just a tiny turkey in a big world… Loved more than he/ she could ever comprehend ❤️🥰🥰🥰
Watch for flying legs!!! 🤣
These two look like sea serpents in their pool… And I love Trixie’s long, long legs kicking about. Today is in the 90s, but thankfully the next few days will be in the 80s… We all wanna break from this hot weather.! 😊❤️

Piggy Smalls Update! 🐷❤️
Little Piglet, a.k.a. Piggy Smalls (on the right), had all of his blood work come back clean, which means he is healthy and officially cleared to join the rest of the sheep!
He is settling in wonderfully and seems to be enjoying life as one of the boys. He looks so much like Oliver (on the left).
Piggy Smalls has already made himself at home and has made it very clear that his favorite treats are apples and cookies. 🍎🍪 We are so happy this sweet little guy is thriving ❤️🐑

I think it’s safe to say that Lil’ T has already decided where they belong. ❤️
This sweet little turkey poult loves to ride around on my shoulder, taking in all the sights and sounds of sanctuary life. There is something so special about earning the trust of a tiny animal. Watching this little one grow, gain confidence, and discover the world has already brought so much joy to my heart.
I have a feeling there will be many more shoulder-riding adventures in our future. 🦃❤️

Did you know we have two grown turkeys at the sanctuary? When little Lil’ T is old enough, he will join our turkey flock!
This beautiful girl is Eleanor. Eleanor came to us from a very difficult situation. Thank you to our friends at Only Sunshine Sanctuary for rescuing her and bringing her to us.
One of the things we love most about sanctuary work is being part of a network of compassionate people who work together to help animals in need. When sanctuaries support one another, more animals get the second chances they deserve.
Eleanor lives near our barn with Big Red, our handsome turkey boy. Many people don’t realize that chickens can carry a disease called blackhead disease, which can be devastating to turkeys. Because of this, we keep our turkeys separated from our chickens to help keep everyone safe and healthy.
For now, Lil’ T has some growing to do, but one day this little cutie will join Eleanor and Big Red. We can’t wait to watch those friendships grow! ❤️🦃🥰

Okay…I’m in Love 🥰🥰🥰

OK, I’m just going to apologize in advance for all of the adorable baby turkey photos and videos you’re about to see. 🦃❤️
Today we welcomed this precious little turkey poult to the Funky Family!
This little one wandered onto someone’s property and absolutely hit the jackpot. The property owner, Jennifer, is a duck rescuer and fellow animal lover who immediately made sure this baby was safe and cared for.
Through our sanctuary network, I was connected with Jennifer, and she kindly drove Lil’ T to us today.
We are so happy to welcome this tiny angel into our family. For now, Lil’ T is much too small to join our turkey flock, so they’ll be living the good life indoors—complete with movie nights, cozy couch snuggles, and lots of love. Once they’re big enough, they’ll move out to join our other turkeys.
Until then, prepare yourselves for an endless stream of baby turkey content. 🤣❤️
Welcome home, Lil’ T! 🦃💕
