Ruff Translation
Getting you and your dog on the same page! Dog training using positive, science-based techniques. Ruff Translation is owned by Juniper Zen, CPDT-KA.
I provide private lessons in Fairfield, Vacaville, Davis, Dixon, and Winters, California. I use positive, force-free methods, particularly clicker-training. I have found this to be the best way to communicate with and teach our dogs for long-term success. It is effective for everything from basic manners to fear/aggression issues. I have a Nose Work Intro group class starting in Vacaville on Monday November 11th at 7 pm! There are 3 spots left!
Nose work is an activity in which the dog is taught to use their sense of smell to locate an object - usually a q-tip that has a small amount of essential oil on it. This gives dogs an opportunity to fully engage in the strongest sense they have, in a fun, mentally challenging mission. It is a great way to burn off energy as well as increase confidence as dogs learn to navigate obstacles, ignore distractions, and explore the world. Dogs of any age are welcome, and no previous training is required.
You can see a video showing one of the students from my previous Intro class, during week 4, right here:

Board & Train at Ruff Translation is open again! If you would like your pup to stay in the home of a professional trainer, do training every day, learn new skills and break bad habits, and then go home with clear, detailed instructions on how to continue the training at home, then you're looking at the right place! Board & Train is a particularly good fit for young dogs who are just learning good manners and obedience. However I have also had success with reducing reactivity on leash, teaching cooperative care, and "tuning up" obedience around distractions. You can find full information on the program here: https://www.rufftranslation.com/board-train Then email me to discuss dates and get started!

Gus the 8 month old Golden Retriever loves to dig in his owner's yard. They made him this awesome digging box so that he can dig to his heart's content, in a place where it won't be destructive! They put some toys and sticks into the dirt to make it even more enticing, but it looks like that wasn't even needed. 😂 Gus is one lucky pup! 😍
