Don’t get me wrong, I’m on team “give pregnant women whatever they want” BUT! I’m also on team staying informed about your body.

“Eating for two” is a misleading and potentially dangerous narrative for pregnant women. In reality, we only need about 350-500 additional calories per day during the last trimester and even fewer during the first two. That’s an extra snack or small meal a day.

While weight gain is completely normal, expected, and not something to avoid or fear - excessive weight gain can increase the risk for gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, birth complications, and can negatively impact the health of mom and baby long term.

What is a normal weight gain for one person may be completely different for someone else. Focus on fueling your body with nutritious foods. Focus on protein and fiber. Drink your water.

I included pregnancy specific nutrition guidelines in ReBuild to help you understand what your body needs and how to fuel it. ReBuild is live and the link is in my bio!

When Thea was tiny and wouldn’t let me get through a workout, I’d set her in front of this mirror in our gym and buy myself a solid 10 minutes. At the time, everything felt impossible. Life itself was an uphill battle let alone trying to exercise in the middle of it. But somewhere along the way, we started to figure it out. Things got easier. Some days are still hard, but I took this picture today and remembered how hopeless I felt in the beginning.

A year and half later, we’re packing up our lives, moving our little family to a new state, dealing with selling one business and starting another, and managing to-do lists that seem to keep getting longer instead of shorter.

So this is your reminder that things get easier. And then maybe they get harder again. Then better.

Circumstances will never be perfect, and that is okay. Stick with it and continue showing up for yourself.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that cardio is the only way to lose weight and fat. But when it comes to long-term, sustainable results, strength training wins every time.

Maybe you’ve heard the more muscle you have the more calories you burn - that’s because muscle is metabolically active, meanings it is constantly burning calories even at rest.

Cardio does provide a quick calorie burn during your workout, but strength training burns calories long after.

I intentionally created the programs and workouts within ReBuild to provide functional strength training so that you can work out in ways that support your body. Link is in my bio!
