Calling all educators….
Educators don't have to imagine how hard it is to struggle each day balancing classroom instruction, lesson planning, and trying to manage day to day because you live it every day. But, what can be hard for a lot of educators to imagine is what it's like to be in the education system as a disabled student who needs accommodations, and may be struggling due to the lack of systemic support that teachers are struggling to receive. Supporting disabled students IS possible all while having strategies to help you feel less overwhelmed, and our October workshop is going to teach you how!
Making Gen Ed Work for More Kids with IEPs was designed with you in mind; an educational workshop brought to you by someone who has both been in the shoes of a struggling student with disabilities whose teachers did not know how to support them, and now as a disabled educator who has served more than 1000 students with IEPs because they identified gaps in their own learning as they earned their Masters in Teaching. In this workshop, you will learn from one of the very best special educators in the country, Mash Makhlyagina, how to:
1. Identify common barriers to effective inclusion within general education settings and how these challenges impact both students and educators.
2. Apply planning strategies that reduce overwhelm and increase flexibility when responding to diverse learning needs.
3. Develop a sustainable mindset for inclusion that balances student support with educator capacity and well-being.
And more!
A steady and equitable worklife balance is waiting for you! For Wisconsin residents, follow this link to register: https://autismsocietywi.org/event/virtual-workshop-making-gen-ed-work-for-more-kids-with-ieps/

Meaningful family partnerships? Yes please!
Strong systems are built with families, not for them.
Family Voices is excited to launch our Fall 2026 webinar series, The Science and Practice of Family Engagement: Building the Foundation for Meaningful Family Partnership in Systems Transformation. Participants will explore evidence-based family engagement strategies, the Continuum of Engagement, and practical tools such as the Family Engagement in Systems Assessment Tool (FESAT) to strengthen family partnership efforts.
Whether you represent a family-led organization, health care system, Medicaid agency, Title V program, or community organization, this series will offer actionable approaches for creating more responsive, equitable systems.

We're excited to bring back by popular demand Mash Makhlyagina! Mash brings a one-of-a-kind workshop experience that blends both their lived experience and knowledge of the education system to our October workshop.
As a Ukrainian immigrant, identified ESOL kid, and undiagnosed neurodivergent student, school was clearly not made for Mash Makhlyagina’s brain as a kid. After earning their Master’s in Teaching, they became a Special Education teacher after earning their special education advanced certificate. Within a year, they were coaching other teachers on key pedagogy missing from most teachers’ preparation programs regarding disability and neurodiversity. They have taught and coached both elementary and middle school, General Education and Special Education, and worked with neurodivergent students from over 40 different countries ages 4-19.
Today they are proud to be an openly Autistic/ADHD special education educator and advocate fighting for what students deserve.
The chance to hear and learn from them on how to improve support for neurodivergent students in schools is one you don't want to miss out on.
Both live and recorded registration is available!

The Wisconsin Autism Transition Demonstration (WAuTD) project is hosting a 2nd round of a caregiver connection series called Together Through Transition to Adulthood.
We are looking to bring families together who have youth/young adults with autism and higher support needs between 13-26 years old and live in the Rock County area for 6 sessions.
The first session will be in-person the morning of Sept 26 at Blackhawk Technical College. We then meet every other week over Zoom and finish on Dec 4 with another (hopefully) in-person gathering.
Families and youth/young adults are invited to the in-person sessions. We will have separate activities for the youth/young adults.
