Fire Prevention Week runs October 4 through 10. This year NFPA's theme is lithium-ion battery safety - how you charge your phone, your tools, your kid's scooter. Boring until it isn't.

We'll leave the safety messaging to the people who know it. But firefighters have been on our list of folks who wear out gear faster than anybody for about as long as we've been making it, so this week we're just saying thanks.

To every crew pulling shifts this week: we appreciate you.

Everything you touched today came out of a building like this one.

Manufacturing Day is the first Friday of October, and shops all over the country open their doors so people can see what the work actually looks like. Worth going if there's one near you - the gap between what people think a modern shop is and what it actually is stays surprisingly wide.

Thanks to the fabricators, machinists, welders and floor crews and everyone in between. You make the stuff and then you make the stuff that makes the stuff.

Look at your oldest pair of boots. The bald spot isn't random - it's a record of what you do all day, and it tells you exactly where the protection needs to go.

This is the part people get wrong. They buy Tuff Toe, put a nice even coat across the front of the toe, and four months later it's worn through in a spot they didn't know to focus on. The product held. The coverage just didn't reach.

So: kneel all day and the wear is across the top of the toe box, which means you carry it back, not just across the front. Drag a front foot and it starts at the tip and eats backward, so you want the front edge and down into the welt. Work around steel and concrete and it's the outer corner, which means wrapping the outside instead of stopping at the front.

Same tube either way. Just aim it where your work actually is.

Olympic curling hopeful in Huntsville, Alabama got her shoes done by one of our certified pros this week.

Curlers wear out the sliding toe faster than almost anybody, and a worn slider means an inconsistent delivery. Not great when you're chasing a spot on a national team.

Pro application, guaranteed for the life of the shoe. Repost from our TCAP down there at
- go give them a follow.

"Does this stuff actually work?"

Fair question. We could answer it ourselves, but you'd expect us to say yes. So here's what people who paid for it have to say instead.

Ramp workers. Welders. Guys on concrete all day. Different trades, same story: the toe is what gives out first, and Tuff Toe is what stops it. Industrial-grade polyurethane, permanently bonded, 15 minutes and about $35 versus $200 for a new pair you'd just destroy the same way.

Swipe through. Every one of these is a verified purchase.

Stay Tuff.

Game 1 is Friday. ⚾

Somewhere in that clubhouse there's a pair of cleats that's been through 30-plus starts, a wild card round, a division series and a pennant. The toe's the first thing to go and it's usually long gone by now.

Whoever you're pulling for, it's a good week for baseball. We'll be watching the feet, as usual.

Happy National Tradesmen Day to the welders, fabricators, electricians, plumbers, masons, mechanics - all the people who build the thing and then keep it running. Nobody claps when the water works or the lights come on, which is sort of the point.

We've spent 30 years making life easier for this crowd, and the best part of the job is seeing where it ends up. Shops, ramps, sites, mills. Boots that have clearly been through it but are still holding strong.

If you're in the trades: thanks. Genuinely. Go take Friday a little easier if you can.

Steel doesn't care how new your boots are. 🔩

Shoutout to the crew at Dave's Steel, putting Tuff Toe to work where it counts. Beams, plate, rebar, kneeling on staging all shift - this is exactly the environment that chews through a toe box in a couple of months and leaves the rest of the boot looking almost new.

That's the job Tuff Toe was built for. Industrial-grade polyurethane bonds permanently to the toe instead of sitting on top of it, so it takes the abrasion and impact that would otherwise take out your leather. 15 minutes of your time, 3X the life out of the pair you already broke in.

If your crew is rough on boots, this is the cheapest protection on the jobsite.

"Toe Box Insurance." We couldn't have named it better ourselves. 🔧

This 5-star verified review is our favorite kind, because the guy admits he rushed the prep. Sanded it badly. Says it didn't stick great in a few spots and the finish came out rough. And then: he's dropped a beam on it. He's dropped a 300-pound piece of glass on it. It's still holding.

That's the difference between a coating and a bond. Tuff Toe is industrial-grade polyurethane, so even a hurried application takes abuse that would end a normal boot. Do the prep right and it's better. Do it in a rush and it still shows up for you.
