* Noon update - crew is on base and hard at work! 😮💨 😅 *
This is Alyssa. This morning at 0700.
She’s been with us less than 60 days and has jumped into the world of military moving with both feet. She’s a mama, a military spouse herself, incredibly smart, relentlessly solutions-oriented, and a fierce advocate for our customers.
Yesterday, after shenanigans getting our crew onto base, she took it upon herself to get in the car and drive two hours south. Her mission? Bring coffee, donuts, encouragement, and support—and personally es**rt the crew if necessary.
Unfortunately, Day 2 brought the same shenanigans. The base screening systems are down, and no one is being allowed on.
So what did Alyssa do?
She found another way to help.
This morning, she’s alongside the driver, helping pack and support the family until the systems come back online and the crew can arrive. 🚚🤪🤌🏻
Fortunately, our crew is staying at a hotel off base and is ready to react the moment access is restored. They’ll stay as long as it takes to get the job done—even if it means a very long day.
Over the last two months, Alyssa has connected with so many of our customers and built genuine relationships. Knowing she’s with this family today gives complete confidence that they’re being cared for, supported, and reassured through an incredibly stressful situation.
We adore her. We appreciate her. And both our team and the military families we serve are better off because she’s on our side.
A quick side note: Getting crews onto military installations has become increasingly challenging. Many crews simply refuse base work, and honestly, I understand why. There is tremendous demand for skilled labor and very limited capacity. Long wait times, access issues, and uncertainty can make these jobs especially difficult.
Moves with hurdles happen. Today is one of those days.
But we’re here for it.
And Alyssa is here for it.
We’ll continue walking alongside this family until we can finally say, “Mission accomplished.”
Despite all the obstacles, people like Alyssa continue to show up, find solutions, and take care of families when they need it most.
That’s what service looks like. Thanks Alyssa! We love growing LOGSA Mil Moves alongside you!

When moving and having to uproot your childcare plan, this could be a game changer. Check out the pilot details below!
Thanks for the info
👵 **YES, THE MILITARY WILL PAY GRANDMA TO WATCH YOUR KIDS!** 👴
You read that correctly! 🤯 If you are drowning in daycare waitlists or working crazy shift hours, you need to know about the DoD's **Child Care in Your Home (CCYH)** fee assistance pilot program.
The military will actually provide a monthly subsidy to help cover the cost of a full-time, in-home provider—and that includes **extended family members** like grandparents, aunts, uncles, or adult siblings!
Before you call Nana to pack her bags, there are some very specific guardrails you need to know:
👶 **THE AGE RULES (WHO QUALIFIES?)**
Because this program is strictly designed to target full-time, in-home care, the age brackets are very specific:
* **The Core Age (6 weeks to 5 years old):** Your child is eligible from infancy until they officially enter Kindergarten. **To qualify for the program at all, you must have at least one child in this age bracket requiring full-time care (30 to 60 hours a week).**
* **The Sibling Rule (6 to 12 years old):** Older, school-aged siblings *only* qualify for the subsidy if their younger sibling (under 5) is actively enrolled in the CCYH program. The subsidy for the older child will cover part-time care, like before and after school hours.
* **When it ends:** Fee assistance for an older child completely wraps up at the end of the school year in which they turn 13.
📍 **THE GEOGRAPHY CATCH**
Because this is an active pilot program, it is limited to regions with the absolute highest childcare demand. You must be stationed in one of these locations to qualify:
* **National Capital Region** (VA/DC/MD)
* **Norfolk, VA** & **Jacksonville/Mayport, FL**
* **San Diego, CA** & **San Antonio, TX**
* **Colorado Springs, CO** & **Las Vegas, NV**
* **Fayetteville, NC** (Fort Liberty) & **Fort Walton Beach, FL**
* **Hawaii** & **Alaska**
* **Seattle/Tacoma, WA**
🏡 **THE "IN YOUR HOME" LOCKDOWN**
**The Location:** The care *must* take place physically inside **your** home. You cannot drop the kids off at a relative's house down the street.
* **The Status:** The family member is allowed to live with you, but they **cannot** be a dependent listed on your DEERS page, and they cannot be the child's biological parent or legal guardian.
💼 **THEY TREAT FAMILY LIKE PROFESSIONALS**
The military isn't just going to Venmo your mom tax-free cash. Under this program, **you become the official employer**. That means your family member must:
1. Pass an official fingerprint-based FBI background check.
2. Complete basic health, safety, and pediatric CPR training (which are provided).
3. Sign a formal family-provider employment contract with you.
💰 **HOW MUCH DOES IT PAY?**
The program covers full-time care between 30 to 60 hours a week. The subsidy pays the difference between your provider's rate and your standard DoD parent fee (which is based on your Total Family Income).
📉 **THE PILOT CAP:** Because this is a specialized pilot program, the maximum monthly provider rate calculation is strictly capped at **$1,800 per month, per child**. If your family provider charges more than that cap, you will be responsible for your standard base copay plus any amount over the $1,800 limit.
🛠️ **HOW TO APPLY**
The administration for this program is fully centralized right on the main military childcare hub!
1️⃣ Log onto **MilitaryChildCare.com** and update your household profile.
2️⃣ Search for care in your eligible region, and **CCYH** will automatically appear in your search results if you qualify.
3️⃣ Watch the required intro video, submit your Request for Care (RFC), and complete the virtual orientation.
📣 **LET'S HEAR IT, MILFAMS!**
Have any of you successfully used the CCYH program to hire a nanny or a family member? Did the background check process take forever, or was it surprisingly smooth?
Drop your experiences in the comments below, and **SHARE** this with a military family who needs a childcare lifeline! 👇
That feeling when the moving crew actually knows what they’re doing 😍🙌
