More 7MGTE pistons

We have received questions about longevity and/or durability of our coatings. So I have attached photos of a set 7MGTE pistons. (The one's that have survived 😜)

This engine experienced failure but look at the durability of "Gold Member" thermal coating. The coating survived pre-ignition, shedded carbon deposits, shedded heat and yet still retained its beautiful appearance.

The "Slick Rick" DFL tried to survive but it was getting eaten alive by bearing material, yet still doing its job of lubricating even in that harsh environment.

Please let this be a public service announcement to all of the "Engine builders" who "know what they are doing". If you do not have the knowledge, the proper calibrated measuring instruments and the attention to detail, PLEASE for the sake of your customers and the fading car community STOP doing this. Take it to the professional's, we are called and paid that way for a reason. If you are to cheap to do this correct, don't do it at all.

What you are about to witness is from a recent tear down of a "built" 7MGTE. The "builder" claimed he knew what he was doing 😡🤥. Now it is not my place to throw names out there but if the owner/customer chooses to, that's on him.

This was built for high HP but was on a very small turbo, so no way was this car was even near 500hp.

The lack of knowledge was glaring, to begin the oil crossover tube must be replaced as it is the single biggest upgrade for longevity and proper oiling. Not only was it the factory piece, it was not even TIGHT. No, not snug, the compression nut was litterly wiggling on it. Next is the excessive thrust clearance and lack of proper machine work. On to the bearings, yet again lack of proper machine work and way too tight and inconsistent clearances for this type of engine and power (inline 6 cast iron block 7 mains). The oil pump shaft thrust was so excessive that I'm surprised that it did not fall out of the block. The pistons and rings 🤬😥 I feel bad for these things. The rings fell out in pieces, yes way too tight and not nearly enough ring end gaps for the cylinder pressures and heat generated. The Pistons litterly got so hot they deformed and started melting the alloy. Finally, the block was cracked due to someone He-man ING in ARP head studs into the block with coolant and dirt in the threads (hydrolocked). This resulted in the head gasket not being able to seal properly, hence the steam cleaned #6 piston.

There was much more but my fingers are getting tired, so I'll end it on that. Yet again, stop destroying the community and costing other even more money because of your lack of knowledge. Sorry for the long post, this was long overdue. My real Mechanic's will greatly appreciate this post.
