The Union County High School Drama Department will perform "Annie" next week, and seniors involved with the play visited the Rotary Club of Union on April 21, talked about the play and quoted their favorite line. They include Harmony Gilliam (Warbucks), Calee Childers (Grace Ferrell), Joslynn Rufrano (Annie), Connor Rash (technical director), Thomas Robinson (Rooster) Melle Ponder (Lily) and Lillian Turner (Miss Hannigan). They are shown with Drama Department Director Ginnie Ponder. The Annual Rotary Club Dinner Theater is on Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. The tickets for this show are sold only in advance for $25. They are available at UCHS, The Union County Arts Council, and Arthur State Bank. Other showings will be Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2nd at 7 p.m.. A Sunday matinee will be shown at 3 p.m. on May 3rd. The cost of the regular showings is $10 per person. This will be the last performances at UCHS for our Drama seniors. Come out to support this talented group of students as they take their final bows. Other actors include Madelyn Tyler as July, John Cook as the dog catcher, Chris Lyles as Lt. Aircraft Incident Near Union County Airport Under Investigation
Union County, SC — The Union County Sheriff’s Office is currently responding to an aircraft incident reported in the area of the Union County Airport Friday evening.
At approximately 6:00p.m., dispatch received reports of a possible plane down, with witnesses observing a significant amount of black smoke in the vicinity. Emergency personnel, along with assisting agencies including forestry services, were immediately notified and responded to the scene.
As a precaution, the airport is temporarily shut down, and the Greer Flight Tower was notified. Authorities have since confirmed that an aircraft is down. Efforts are underway to identify the aircraft, including tail number, type, and information regarding the pilot and any Passengers on board.
At this time, the scene is secured the FAA and NTSB have been notified and remains an active investigation. Additional information, including the extent of injuries and cause of the incident, will be released as it becomes available.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate safely.
