Over the next three days, officers from the CHP Ukiah Area will be conducting training exercises at Eagle Peak Middle School.
Community members may notice an increased law enforcement presence, patrol vehicles, and training activity on campus during this time. Please do not be alarmed—this is only a training exercise designed to help our officers sharpen their skills and ensure they are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies.
We appreciate the support and partnership of Eagle Peak Middle School for allowing us to use their campus for this important training opportunity.
Training today helps us better protect our communities tomorrow.

As we monitor this prescribed burn that took place between Burke Hill Rd. and Nelson Ranch Rd., now is a great time to remind everyone of the dangers of dragging chains, tossing ci******es out the car window, or letting your vehicle sit running on dry gas for extended periods of time. Fire season is officially here.

Officers responded to a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Hill Road at Eel River Ranch Road near Covelo after a bridge completely collapsed while a vehicle was crossing it. As the bridge gave way, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof next to the river. Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
⚠️ SAFETY MESSAGE ⚠️
When traveling on rural roadways, remain alert to changing road and bridge conditions. Reduce your speed, wear your seat belt, and stay attentive to posted warnings and closures. Seat belts remain one of the most effective ways to reduce injuries in a collision and can make a critical difference during unexpected events.

CHP Ukiah was proud to attend the Willits High School Sober Grad event! Our officers had a great time connecting with students and giving them a firsthand look at the dangers of impaired driving.
Students had the opportunity to put on our DUI impairment goggles and navigate a tricycle obstacle course designed to simulate the effects alcohol can have on a person’s ability to drive. It didn’t take long for participants to see how quickly judgment, balance, and reaction times can be affected.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and participated. We hope the experience provided a valuable reminder about the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.
As graduation celebrations continue, remember: Have fun, celebrate responsibly, and always plan for a sober ride home. Never drive impaired, and never ride with an impaired driver. Your future is worth protecting.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and have a safe and memorable graduation season! 🎓🚔
