What a wonderful example of another successful HSO story! Please help me in congratulating Karla in all her successes and praying she continues to be a great advocate for the youth and women in our community!

Karla Bautista has worked for Smith County for five years.
She started working for Adult Probation in May 2016, and in January of 2017, she transferred over to Juvenile Services. She serves as the community service coordinator and is a vocational instructor for the H.O.P.E Academy. She has become dual certified as a Juvenile Supervision Officer and a Juvenile Probation Officer.
“Juvenile Services called out to me because I knew that if a change could be made, it would be easier if it started at a young age,” she said. “Juveniles at our center receive a second opportunity to create change in their own lives so they can be better off in the future. Being a part of the growth these juveniles experience is an amazing feeling. You can’t change the world but you can help one person at a time.”
Mrs. Bautista is a veteran of the United States Army and recently earned her Master’s Degree. She is a probation officer, training officer, vocational instructor, program leader and helps build buildings and ramps, Worley added.
“She’s done an amazing job,” he said. “We’re glad to have her.”

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” Martin Luther King Jr.
