Tyler’s got some amazing talent on the rise! 🎨✨
Big thanks to the TJC Art Department and Art Club for stepping in as our expert judges. They reviewed 350 unique pieces from 60 East Texas school groups to select our winners.
All artwork will be displayed at our Night of the Arts in February for parents, family, and friends to view.

It's that time of year again! This week, Academic Rodeo kicked off in-person competitions with Mindset Breaking, where 328 students from 36 school groups competed.
This competition allows students to test their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. These were only the preliminary rounds, and we can't wait to welcome the finalists back to compete in January! 🤓
What a wonderful competition season so far! Last week we had Drama Festival, Mathletics, ACQ, and Spelling Bee.
The week before we completed our High School Pentathlon.
In case you didn’t know, there are some amazing young people doing some great things out there!
I’ll post pictures next week.
We will have a Night in the Arts at the Tyler Rose Garden on February 8th. Stay tuned for more details.

Well it is now FB official. Deborah turned in her keys yesterday. I didn’t cry but I was close. She has been the heart of this organization for 16 years. She will be missed but I am thankful she gets to retire and have new adventures. I will do my very best to make this a great competition season. Thank you all for your patience with me and I look forward to a full week of students on the premises next week! Happy New Year!

It was fun to recently be a part of the birthday celebration for one of our most passionate volunteers, Ms. Tauniya White, affectionately known as "Ms. Tauniya" by the students in Academic Challenge Quiz. Tauniya has been asking questions of Middle and High School students for more than 25 years in the highly popular quiz bowl contest. She is quick to tell students that the Spelling Bee category in the Rapid Fire Round is the "most dreaded" of the 6 sets! We appreciate her dedication and service to Academic Rodeo and were proud to recognize her as an Outstanding Volunteer at the 2022 Awards Celebration. Thanks again, Tauniya, and "Happy Birthday"!

We have been busy here at the Academic Rodeo! We had our Preliminary round for our Mindset Breaking Experience for Primary, Intermediate, and High School the first week of November. Due to bad weather, we postponed the Middle School competition and will have that in December. The finalists are posted on our East Texas State Fair website.
