Evil has been treated as this great incubus, a stain on the record of God used to call His very existence into question. The problem with this approach is when considered as the counterfeit that it is, nothing else has so effectively, for good or ill, opened a dialogue about Him. This isn't to say that God needed evil in order to become known. [ 58 more words. ]

More and more blunt posturing is being favored over humility. While I see the appeal, I find it difficult to believe that we will not stumble with heads held so high that we fail to see the holes before our feet.

While it can be a frightful notion to at late realize how readily the old man creeps in when you become lax in your relationship with God, it is ever more amazing to witness grace's hand extended further in spite of you.

Repentance is not a retreat or withdrawal. Such would suggest a loss, removal from the ideal direction to which you would still wish to strive. No, it is a return by revelation-a renewal from weakness unto strength. This is often misperceived, though, as such a movement requires one to assume a humble position. For me, I have found it best to kneel.

So many times I have sought more to be right rather than to be righteous. It is without a doubt one of the subtlest snares of pride, difficult to see past because of the correlation between the two. Yet, even with the correspondence one can easily be concerned with the self rather than regard service-therein lies the problem.

How quickly we remember S***m and Gomorrah. How easily we forget Nineveh. Much like our own individual lives we tend to focus on His punishments and forget His mercies.

The home was instituted by God before the Church. Christians today have a embarrassingly high divorce rate. We are fools if we continue to act as if there is no link between the preservation of our marriages and the success of the Church. Witness begins with the individual, yes, but the coupling of husband and wife is the example of Christ's relationship to the Church. [ 58 more words. ]

For the believer, the act of worshiping God can present itself in any aspect of life. Contrary to some thought, it is not one-way but a convergence of obedience and purpose with the affirmation of God confirmed by His pleasure and your fulfillment.

Even as Christians we strive for that recognition of greatness. We desire to be the Moses...the Davids...the Paul's...But what about those behind the grandeur, those God has singularly chosen to build...to supply...to pray---the names you cannot remember yet even so will be covered in glory, for obedience was their sole motivation as the Father equally called them? We should desire to be likewise.

One of the biggest reservations we have against God is that of surrender. We liken such a relationship to the most abominable acts, and Him, we hold as the centerpiece of our hatred. Yet, what of the many things under which we do yield: Possessions...power...prestige...? After all, the denial of one authority is the submission to another--one having none outside of what we ourselves turn over to it.

Lord, You have both written on and speak to my inner being; how I long to write something that would speak to Yours. Though You have no need for men's words, You delight Yourself in those who keep Your commandments, offering them friendship and testifying to their obedience before the enemy and before the world. Pour out Your Spirit, oh Lord, upon Your scribe that I write outside of myself, for if I may pen what touches the heart of God, then surely the stone within men would shatter as their minds engage to the inscription by your finger. Slavery, it would seem, is treated as one of the unpardonable sins that transcends to our modern era. Is it not curious that Christ would relate our relationship to sin-all sin-in such a manner? Yet, while the Scriptures show us that forgiveness by grace abounds to even the chiefest of sinners, why do we fail to do likewise, for are not all in the end captives of sin? [ 40 more words. ]
