Our neighbors to the east, particularly in Avoyelles Parish around the Simmesport area, are experiencing a catastrophic flood today. This is nearly an Imelda-level event over that way as they have picked up 25-30 inches of rain in a short period of time and it’s still raining.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Texas today. Actual temperatures will be in the 90s, but heat index values could reach up to 110° in some areas. Stay hydrated and keep cool!
Due to wind shear and dry air, Tropical Storm Arthur is very disorganized and the main effects will be in coastal areas through this evening.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to open today. Arthur has decided to turn our parking lot into a waterfront attraction, and it’s currently covered in water.
The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority, and we want everyone to stay safe while the weather moves through the area.
We appreciate your understanding and support. We’ll keep everyone updated and look forward to serving you again as soon as conditions improve.
Stay safe, Crystal Beach! 💙🌊

TROPICAL UPDATE: The area of low pressure over the Texas Coast has been deemed Potential Tropical Cyclone 1. The National Hurricane Center uses this terminology when a system could develop close to the coastline and Tropical Storm Watches are needed in advance.
IMPACTS: We’ve seen some very heavy rainfall today across Southeast Texas. It’s likely that today featured the heaviest rainfall of this event. A break in the rain is expected tonight with more scattered activity possible on Wednesday.
PTC 1 could become Tropical Storm Arthur tonight or on Wednesday, but impacts will remain the same regardless. The system is expected to move up the Texas Coast and move inland over Southeast Texas Wednesday night. This could lead to some wind gusts to around 40 mph, especially near the coast. No significant rainfall is expected with landfall at this time, but trends will be monitored over the next 24 hours. Along the coast, rough surf and coastal flooding of 1-2 feet is possible. By Thursday morning, this system will be pulling away with better weather returning to the area.
