Last weekend was a busy one with multiple performances, and our dancers rose to the occasion! We had the opportunity to showcase our talents at the festival and were met with one of the most enthusiastic, supportive audiences we’ve performed for all season.

The energy, encouragement, and love from the crowd made this performance incredibly special for our dancers. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on, and a huge thank you to the organizers of the festival for inviting us to be part of such a fun event.

Ground Control is STILL performing! Even though our current dance season is transitioning into a new one, our dancers are still out there doing what they love!

Happy Birthday, !!! 🥳

Twelve years ago, our studio took on a new name and became GROUND CONTROL… and the rest is history.

It’s been a wild, beautiful ride.

Fun fact: Ground Control was actually our third name choice!

The first idea thrown out was RAD (no joke 😆). A friend once said, “Wouldn’t it be cool if you just went by RAD—standing for Rhythm and Dance?” We loved the energy, but ultimately felt it might be a little confusing, so we passed.

The second name was Stomping Grounds. We really liked it, but knew we didn’t want to be defined as just a clogging studio. Still such a fun name though—I’ve always kind of loved it.

And then… Ground Control was born.

As two science majors, big fans of David Bowie and Star Wars, and with fond memories of watching Star Trek reruns with my dad (who passed away when I was 16), the space theme felt deeply meaningful. It still does.

Ground Control has always held a special place in our hearts—and it always will. 🛸✨
