Not machining, but applies all the same. A year of consistency, arbitrary consistency. 10,000 steps a day minimum for a year. More growth comes from consistency than chasing perfection. Does the 10k number really matter, not really. But it was enough to get me out of comfort zone. Some days were easy. Some days sucked. But I did it either way. There were days I’d get back from a 20 mile mtb ride and have like 500 steps. Or traveling. Or road trips or sick. Just made sure to get it done. I’ll prob keep it up for at least a while. Even if I don’t hit it every day now it will be a consistent goal.

Repeat job I run occasionally. These have taken me a while to get dialed. The 4th axis is such a huge game changer and just makes parts like this so much easier. I jump back and forth on the ops and being able to just rotate the 4th has made these way faster with less handling and they come out so much cleaner. Plus the setup is way faster.

Cutting these 4130 brackets for the Nub Valve Spring Compressor for David Irving. The blanks are laser cut by and then finished in the mill. I cut the soft jaws 0.001 over the model and they are a perfect fit ✅.

I’m glad to get the chance to be on the Impractical Machinist Podcast for with , and that just dropped today. I always enjoy talking about machining whenever possible and was fun just chatting with these dudes. Hope you all enjoy it and maybe pick up even a nugget of info that can help you out. I enjoy where I’m at, the people I’ve met in all of this and find a lot of value in knowing there’s people that want to get where I am and knowing there’s people that are where I want to be ✊🏻.
