Psalm 23 doesn’t promise a life free from valleys. In fact, David says, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” He didn’t say around the valley or away from the valley.
He said through it.

There are seasons when the path is green and peaceful. There are also seasons when the road is dark and uncertain. Yet the comfort of Psalm 23 is not found in the absence of trouble—it is found in the presence of the Shepherd.

When David reached the darkest part of the journey, he didn’t say, “I will fear no evil because I know the outcome.” He said, “I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”

The same Shepherd who leads beside still waters walks with us through difficult days. His rod protects. His staff guides. His goodness pursues us. His mercy never runs out.

Whatever valley you may be facing today, remember this: valleys are places we walk through, not places we stay. It’s not time to set up camp. Keep moving forward. The Shepherd has never lost sight of one of His sheep, and He won’t start with you.

Take comfort today—you’re not walking alone.
