Veteran group service dog lesson at Walmart.

This afternoon, we worked with some of our veterans and their service dogs in Walmart. We worked on distractions, loud noises, different sights, sounds and smells.

They both did so well, I gave them homework to accomplish before I see them next week. I’m excited to see all of their progress!

Off leash, Oakley

This afternoon trainer, Nicole took Oakley to Southern agriculture to pick out a new collar and a fancy bow.

They worked on her off leash, obedience, and commands in a public setting, with different levels of environmental stimuli.

We had other dogs and people walk around the store next to us while we were working. We worked past accidents and drop treats as well as spilled food.

And then we walked past different toys and tried to get her to break her attention so we can reinforce her commands.

Overall, she did so well, but she ultimately broke for these one fuzzy toys. Even though we want her to always ace her little tests,it’s important to have this feedback, so us is trainers can reinforce the training wherever it’s needed. 

Before and after we entered the store, we always offered them the potty command. She listened beautifully and went number one before we enter the store. And of course, since it’s almost 100° in Oklahoma. I gave her a drink of water after her lesson and made sure to keep the car on so it wasn’t too hot when we came back!

What’s better than one smile, three smiles!!

Look at how happy Flounder, Theo and , Teddy are this morning getting to go on a field trip to work on their public access, manners and obedience around distractions.

This morning we went and worked at Dick’s Sporting Goods!!!
