We received an inquiry yesterday about playing for a wedding in February. We answered that we’d check our schedules and get back on availability and fees. They responded they needed to know asap and “a friend is going to cover the cost” and would be “paying with a check.”
Ding, ding! Scammer alert!
In our next response we asked, “Is the wedding venue closer to Lake Washington or Henderson Hill?” (neither of which to our knowledge exist anywhere in the Tulsa area).
His response: “by Lake Washington.”
Aha, now the game was afoot!
We responded with the following:
“Great! The fee for two hours will be $47,320.45. We require a cash deposit up front of $23,768.00. And we require it to be paid all in single $1.00 bills or in gold bullion. Is that acceptable?”
That was seven hours ago.
So far, we’ve not heard back. 😄
