🎶 Catching up with Kate Morton!

Mezzo-soprano Kate Morton, a member of the Cherokee Nation from Tahlequah and a Tulsa Youth Opera alumna, is bringing her Oklahoma roots to some remarkable stages. A 2025–26 winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition - Tulsa District Encouragement Award, Kate’s busy fall calendar features opera, classical Indigenous music, and new works.

Over the summer, she performed Ado Annie in OKLAHOMA with The Glimmerglass Festival.

This fall, she will:

🎭 Make her Perelman Performing Arts Center debut in A SOUNDTRACK OF A NATION, co-presented by The Atlantic and The Juilliard School.

🎼 Premiere ’s one-act operas TRIALS AND TEARS and SACAJAWEA: WOMAN OF MANY NAMES with The Cooper Union.

🌾 Join Opera Montana's Wheels of Harmony tour, sharing Indigenous music and culture—including opera!—with rural Montanans and tribal schools.

And in 2027, she will make her Houston Grand Opera debut as Ellie May Chipley in SHOWBOAT.

We’re looking for a dynamic, highly organized Education Manager to help bring opera to students, teachers, young artists, families, and communities across Tulsa.

This full-time position plays a key role in planning and supporting Tulsa Opera’s education programs while also providing administrative support for selected artistic programs. You’ll collaborate with artists, educators, volunteers, community partners, and colleagues across the company to create meaningful education, engagement, and artistic experiences.

What you’ll find:
• Full-time, exempt position reporting to the Artistic Director
• Salary: $45,000–$50,000, commensurate with experience

Audition for the 2027 Raise Your Voice Tour: Sid the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing

Calling all singers! Tulsa Opera is seeking locally based singers with ***daytime availability*** for our 2027 Raise Your Voice Tour, bringing opera to libraries and 2nd grade classrooms throughout the community. This is a paid opportunity!

WHAT TO PREPARE:
One aria or song in an operatic or classical theatre style, no more than 3 minutes. No contemporary pop or country selections, please. Great American Songbook standards are welcome.

WHAT TO BRING:
📄 Sheet music, 3-hole punched and in a binder for the pianist
🎹 A pianist will be provided — no a ca****la or recorded accompaniment

A headshot and resume are optional.

📅 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Daytime availability during tour rehearsals and performances is non-negotiable. If you are not available during the day, you will not be considered for a role.
• Tour responsibilities include moving, setting up and breaking down scenery at each performance venue.
• Artists must complete a routine background check before performances.
• Rehearsals typically take place weekday evenings, plus weekday mornings and afternoons.

TENTATIVE 2027 DATES:
• Feb. 27–March 14 — Rehearsals
• March 15–19 — Library Performances
• March 22–26 — School Performances
• March 29–April 2 — School Performances
