One of the hills I will die on as a physician: longevity isn’t about doing more to your body, but understanding it better? ❤️
As women, our bodies change constantly. Our hormones, metabolism, muscle, energy, and nutritional needs evolve with us.
So maybe the goal isn’t to fast longer, eat less, or chase ketosis.
Maybe the goal is resilience.
A body that can adapt.
A body that can maintain strength.
A body that can recover, nourish itself, and keep up with the life you want to live.
Because longevity isn’t just about living longer.
It’s about having more life in those years.
I explore fasting, metabolic flexibility, muscle, and healthy aging in my latest Women’s Journal article.

Beyond Hercules: Kevin Sorbo on Health, Recovery & Resilience
Kevin Sorbo is known around the world for playing Hercules, but his story goes far beyond his life on screen.
In the latest episode of the Authentic Longevity Podcast, Dr. Mark Sherwood sits down with Kevin to talk about the aneurysm that led to four strokes, the months he spent relearning how to walk, and the years it took to fully recover.
But the conversation is about much more than what happened. Kevin shares how that experience changed the way he approaches fitness, sleep, stress, recovery, and longevity.
One lesson stands out:
Listen to your body.
Kevin knew something was wrong but initially brushed it off. His experience is a powerful reminder to pay attention when your body is telling you something.

Taking a GLP-1 doesn’t mean you need to stop eating.
It means you may need to be more intentional about WHAT you eat.
Start with protein. Add plenty of fiber. Eat protein first. And keep your meals flexible enough that you can actually stick with them.
What you don’t need to do?
❌ Cut out carbs
❌ Skip meals
❌ Try to eat all your protein at once
❌ Give up the foods you enjoy
Save this for your next grocery trip.

Here is a visual aid to help you understand why we do all of the deep analysis at FMI. Such a powerful reminder that what we cannot see on the outside may matter tremendously on the inside. Visceral and ectopic fat are not simply cosmetic concerns—they are metabolically active and are associated with insulin resistance, inflammation, and increased cardiometabolic risk.
This is why health should never be judged by the scale alone. Body composition, metabolic health, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and consistent lifestyle choices all matter.
The goal isn’t simply to weigh less—it’s to become metabolically healthier from the inside out.

Your chronological age is only part of the story.
The more important question may be: how are you aging biologically?
We’ll be taking the stage at Biohackers World, Chicago to explore “Unlocking the Biology of Human Longevity.”
