The summer adventures are rolling right along at Mount Arukah! Our girls had a week packed with two amazing outings.
Day one was spent exploring the Tulsa Zoo, checking out the wildlife, and enjoying a classic summer day out together. And the very next day, they laced up skates for a fun afternoon of rollerblading!
From navigating the zoo trails to balancing on eight wheels, it was a week full of so much fun and activity. These field trips are a vital part of the healing process on our campus. Rebuilding a life after trauma includes rediscovering the simple joys of childhood, building confidence, and just having uninterrupted fun with friends.
We are so grateful to our community whose support allows us to provide these life-enriching, joyful experiences for our residents!

These cases highlight how predators repeatedly target the most vulnerable children. They also show how important interstate law enforcement cooperation is, in this instance, Louisiana police played a key role in bringing an Oklahoma predator into custody.
These are charges only. Not convictions.
At The Demand Project, we educate communities through presentations and trainings, advocate for victims, run a residential program for trafficked minors, and offer nonresidential support for survivors of any age. We turn awareness into real protection and healing.

Oklahoma just sued Roblox. Making us the 12th state taking legal action against the popular gaming platform!
On May 14th, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a lawsuit against Roblox, the massively popular gaming platform used by two thirds of all American children between the ages of 9 and 12. The lawsuit accuses Roblox of placing corporate profit over child safety, allowing the platform to become, in the AG's own words, "a hunting ground for predators".
According to the lawsuit, Roblox allowed children as young as 5 to create accounts without parental knowledge, communicate with strangers, and be exposed to grooming, sextortion, and worse, all while marketing itself as a safe, family-friendly platform.
This matters to us because it mirrors exactly what we see in the communities we serve. Roblox is in our parent workshop for a reason. It is on the devices of kids in Tulsa right now. And parents need to know more about it.
Our July 22nd online safety workshop will cover Roblox, and many other apps/ gaming platforms, and will include info on how to turn off chat features and lock down your child's account.

When this amazing resident came to Mount Arukah at 17, we knew our window of time with her would be short. But we also knew that every single day matters when it comes to healing!
Last week, she crossed the stage, and officially graduated from high school!
What made this monumental day even more beautiful was the crowd cheering her on. While her family’s journey has faced immense fractures in the past, restoration won the day. Her entire family showed up to stand beside her, alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, mentors, and her fellow residents. Seeing that complete circle of support is a picture of what healing looks like.
She isn't stopping here. She is officially transitioning into our nonresidential program as she takes her next massive step forward: moving on to college!
We are incredibly proud of her resilience, her hard work, and the bright future she is building! 🎉

On our most recent campus workday we had an absolute powerhouse crew of volunteers from River Valley Church come out to Mount Arukah, and they did amazing work!
This group jumped right into landscaping, and clearing out the weeds to get our garden looking amazing. They even took the time to paint crisp, brand-new lines on our basketball court, giving the girls a refreshed space to play, connect, and enjoy being kids.
We are so grateful to everyone that came out from River Valley Church!! Your hard work directly improves the daily lives of our residents and keeps our campus looking beautiful.
Mark Your Calendars for the Next Workday!
We cannot do this alone, and our next campus workday is coming up fast on Saturday, June 20th.
Whether you want to give your time like this incredible crew, donate resources, or support our mission financially, every single bit of support makes a tangible difference in the restoration journeys happening here. Thank you to any and everybody who stands with Mount Arukah!

Summer is officially here, and that means field trips! This week, the girls from Mount Arukah took a break from the classroom and campus routines for a special summer outing to the Aquarium.
From watching the sharks swim overhead in the tunnel to getting a close-up look at the sting rays, it was a pretty amazing day! These outings are so much more than just a fun day out; they are an essential part of the healing journey. Allowing our girls to just be kids, explore new environments, and make happy summer memories is a vital piece of rebuilding a life filled with hope and joy.
Thank you to our incredible community and supporters who make these experiences possible for our residents. We couldn't do this without you!💙

Family Members Arrested in Tulsa Child Sexual Abuse Case
A disturbing case in Tulsa this week shows just how far some people will go to protect a predator.
26 year old Kristopher Bates was arrested on multiple counts of lewd molestation of two young girls. His parents, Adam and Jessica Bates, were also arrested and charged with allowing the abuse to continue and failing to report it to authorities, even after they were allegedly told about the abuse and caught him in the act.
This is a sobering reminder:
Protecting a predator, even your own child, makes you part of the problem. No relationship is more important than the safety of a child.
At The Demand Project, we believe everyone must choose the safety of children over covering for abusers.

🚨WEEKLY PREDATOR WATCH🚨
These cases show how abuse can happen inside families and homes across Oklahoma. Thanks to survivors, investigators, and law enforcement, more predators are facing consequences.
These are charges for the first two cases and a conviction/sentencing for the third.
At The Demand Project, we educate communities through presentations and trainings, advocate for victims, run a residential program for trafficked minors, and offer nonresidential support for survivors of any age.
