Dear CSGC Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I must share some unfortunate news. The Computer Simulation & Gaming Conference (CSGC) 2024 event, along with all subsequent events, has been canceled for the foreseeable future.

CSGC has been a significant part of our lives since its inception in 2013 as the Heartland Gaming Expo. What began as a humble student-organized game jam has evolved over the years into a vibrant platform for showcasing game development projects and hosting academic-level conference talks, demos, and presentations. In 2018, I had the honor of taking over as event coordinator and spearheading the rebranding efforts to elevate CSGC to new heights.

Our 2023 event was a testament to the growth and success of CSGC, featuring three conference tracks with 17 esteemed speakers, 15 exhibitors, and receiving over 80 submissions to our various game design and development competitions. However, despite our best efforts, the event has outgrown the capacity of a single coordinator and a handful of volunteers to manage effectively.

Regrettably, due to the lack of organizational support and a decline in in-person attendance, we have made the difficult decision to sunset CSGC. It has been an incredible journey coordinating this event for the past six years, and I am immensely grateful to everyone who has contributed and participated in making CSGC what it is today.

To all the speakers, exhibitors, participants, and supporters who have been part of the CSGC community, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your passion, dedication, and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind CSGC’s success, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with each and every one of you.

While this marks the end of an era, I am hopeful that the memories and experiences we’ve shared through CSGC will continue to inspire and fuel our passion for game development and academic exploration. Thank you once again for being part of this incredible journey.

So long and thanks for all the fish,
Akram Taghavi-Burris
CSGC Coordinator (2018 – 2023)
