๐Ÿ”๏ธ Hills Build More Than Strength

One of the reasons hill training is such an important part of our program is that hills develop many of the same benefits as speed workโ€”with less impact and without requiring anyone to run fast.

This week our RunWalk Tulsa members tackled hill workouts across four sessions:

โ˜€๏ธ Wednesday Morning โ€“ Broken Arrow
๐ŸŒ… Wednesday Evening โ€“ Gathering Place
โ˜€๏ธ Thursday Morning โ€“ Ronald McDonald House
๐ŸŒ™ Thursday Evening โ€“ Ronald McDonald House

Hill training helps build:

โœ… Endurance
โœ… Cardiovascular fitness
โœ… Running efficiency
โœ… Power and strength
โœ… Mental toughness
โœ… Confidence

Whether you're walking, running or training with the Run-Walk-Runยฎ Method for a 5K, half marathon, marathon, or simply better fitness, hills can help you become stronger without focusing on pace.

The hill may only last a few minutes, but the benefits carry over to every workout and race day.

And despite all those hills, just look at those happy faces! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ THIS WEEK'S TRAINING FOCUS: Why Speed Isn't Just About Running Faster ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Four workouts. Two days. Multiple locations. One goal: helping our members become stronger, healthier, and more confident.

This week began with workouts in:

โ˜€๏ธ Broken Arrow (Monday AM)
๐ŸŒ… Gathering Place (Monday PM)
โ˜€๏ธ Ronald McDonald House (Tuesday AM)
๐ŸŒ™ Tulsa Runner (Tuesday PM)

Our Monday and Tuesday workouts focus on drills and speed work, but here's something many people don't realize:

Speed training isn't just for fast runners.

When done correctly, it helps improve:
โœ… Efficiency
โœ… Endurance
โœ… Cardiovascular fitness
โœ… Confidence
โœ… Running and walking form

Whether you're training for your first 5K, a half marathon, a marathon, or simply looking to stay active, structured workouts help you get more from every mile.

One of the things that makes RunWalk Tulsa unique is the flexibility to train at multiple locations throughout the week, with options for runners, run-walkers, and walkers of all paces.

Another great start to the weekโ€”and apparently we were extra photogenic along the way. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ˜„

Which workout do you enjoy most: speed work, hills, or long runs?

Thereโ€™s just something special about training on historic Route 66. ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธโœจ

Our RunWalk Tulsa crew started the day at 5:30 AM in Broken Arrow and finished strong tonight at the Gathering Place โ€” with some extra Tulsa magic along the way.

The Gathering Place recently unveiled a beautiful new Route 66 mural celebrating the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Mother Road, and we were lucky enough to meet one of the artists behind it, Doug Henderson, who jumped into a group photo with us!

From sunrise run/walk intervals to evening miles along one of Americaโ€™s most iconic highways, this is one of the many reasons we love training in Tulsa. Community, encouragement, movement, and history โ€” all in one workout.

Whether youโ€™re a walker, run-walker, or runnerโ€ฆ thereโ€™s a place for you here. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ Mondays & Wednesdays
โฐ 5:30 AM โ€“ Broken Arrow
โฐ 6:00 PM โ€“ Gathering Place

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Route 66 vibes included at no extra charge ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not all training programs are created the same. ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ

At RunWalkTulsa, we built our program for REAL people with REAL starting points.

Some members are walkers.
Some are run-walkers.
Some are training for a 5K.
Some are training for half marathons and marathons.
Some are returning to fitness after years away.
Some never thought they could do this at all.

Thatโ€™s why we offer:

โœ… Walk-only groups
โœ… Run-walk-run groups
โœ… Multiple pace groups
โœ… Morning and evening training options
โœ… Beginner-friendly coaching
โœ… Encouragement without pressure

You do not have to be fast to belong here.
You do not have to โ€œalready be in shape.โ€
You just have to start.

The best part? Everyone supports everyone โ€” walkers cheering for runners, runners cheering for walkers, morning groups cheering for evening groups. โค๏ธ

This is more than a workout program. Itโ€™s a community.

Come try a free workout and see the difference for yourself.
