I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported me in this journey. Our public schools are so incredibly important to me, and I am honored that our community allowed me to serve them on our school board. While the results of yesterday’s election were not in my favor, I am not going anywhere. I will always continue to work for the community that I love. I hope you will all join me in congratulating E’Lena Ashley on her hard-fought victory. I wish her the very best and pray that she finds serving our students and teachers as rewarding as I always did. Thank you to my dear friends, family, volunteers, and campaign team that were with me every step of the way. Most importantly, I want to thank my patient husband Jeremy, and my son Alex who had to share me with the school board and many campaigns. This weekend was a tough one for Shawna. Shawna’s grandmother (Mimi) was admitted to the hospital on Friday. She spent the weekend cheering Shawna on from her hospital bed. Being a proud, lifelong East Tulsa resident, she was determined to get out of the hospital in time to VOTE for her granddaughter. We’re thrilled to announce that she made it out just in time! If MIMI can make it out to the polls today, so can YOU!

As a fourth-generation East Tulsan, my community’s schools are near and dear to my heart. My mother and I are both proud East Central Cardinals. My son, mom, and I all attended Disney Elementary. It has been an honor to serve my friends and neighbors on the school board. Serving on the school board isn’t political to me it’s personal. Please, VOTE TODAY. Our kids are worth it!
