📚🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈📚

This June, we’re celebrating love, resilience, and community—because every voice deserves to be heard, and every story deserves to shine. As we gear up for our birthday party on the 10th, we’re thrilled to spotlight two incredible local businesses that uplift our city in their own unique ways.

🌟 Spotlight 1: Mood Bru
A woman- and LGBTQIA±owned business rooted in Tulsa, Mood Bru crafts delicious, mood-boosting non-alcoholic beverages designed to bring joy and connection. Whether you’re sipping with friends or treating yourself, their drinks are the perfect way to celebrate Pride and good vibes alike. Don’t forget to grab a few at Heirloom on the 10th!

🌟 Spotlight 2: The Curious Bison
The Curious Bison is a Tulsa-based small business fueled by curiosity and creativity. Specializing in laser-cut, travel-themed gifts and decor, they celebrate Oklahoma’s spirit with locally made artistry. Located at 1102 S Lewis Ave, Unit B on Route 66, their shop is a must-visit for unique finds and a warm welcome. Q***r Lit Collective invites you to adventure on over to https://www.q***rlitcollective.org/donate and commit to a monthly donation of $5, $10, $25, or $50 to put towards a future where q***r libraries are everywhere and our literature is acknowledged and celebrated. This Memorial Day, we honor and thank our veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and service.

For those looking to deepen their understanding of LGBTQIA+ history within our military, Coming Out Under Fire: The History of Gay Men and Women in World War II by Alan Bérubé is a must-read. This compelling book sheds light on the often-overlooked experiences of q***r service members during one of history’s most pivotal conflicts.

Let’s remember, reflect, and continue fighting for a world where every veteran is seen, valued, and celebrated. 💙🏳️‍🌈

This week's book feature is Pauli Murray : the life of a pioneering feminist and civil rights activist written by Stevens-Holsey, Rosita; Jennings and Terry CatasĂşs.

Pauli Murray (1910–1985) was a trailblazing Black feminist, civil rights activist, lawyer, priest, and poet whose life and work challenged and transformed America’s social justice landscape. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Murray’s lifelong fight against racial and gender discrimination positioned them at the forefront of the civil rights and feminist movements.

As a legal scholar, Murray’s innovative arguments helped lay the foundation for Brown v. Board of Education, the landmark case that ended school segregation. They were a co-founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and later made history as the first Black woman ordained as an Episcopal priest. Murray’s writings on intersectionality and equality were decades ahead of their time, influencing generations of activists and thinkers. Their relentless pursuit of justice and unwavering commitment to equity left an indelible mark on history, inspiring ongoing struggles for civil rights and human dignity.

This biography of Pauli Murray shines a light on a figure whose contributions have often been overlooked, yet whose ideas shaped modern equality movements. Reading Murray’s story is a reminder of the power of resilience, intersectional thinking, and the courage to challenge unjust systems. Their life encourages us to reflect on how far we’ve come—and how much further we must go—in the fight for justice and equity for all.

Today, we stand together against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia.

IDAHOTB is a day to raise awareness, challenge discrimination, and celebrate the resilience of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities worldwide. At Q***rLit Collective, we believe in the power of literature to foster understanding, empathy, and change.

Let’s use this day to listen, learn, and support one another. Together, we can create a world where everyone is free to be themselves. 🏳️‍🌈✨
