The Soldier and the Spider

During World War II, a US marine was separated from his unit on a Pacific island.

The fighting had been intense, and in the smoke and crossfire he’d lost touch with his comrades. Alone in the jungle, he heard enemy soldiers approaching his position and scrambled for cover.

If believers have the fruit of the Spirit and the Triune God living within them, then why do we have so much trouble behaving as if we did?

When someone delays our journey, cuts us off in traffic, or does anything we don’t like, we react with frustration, even sometimes with anger. Our ungodly impulses drive us to ungodly behavior.

God’s Word holds the answer to all the questions of life. He is not a God who creates the world and then leaves it to languish on its own. Even before He chose to give humanity the choice to obey or not, He knew what we would be going through, and which path we would decide to take.

New Article: An Inheritance Kept for You

By God’s great mercy we have been born again!

In 1 Peter 1:3-7, God—through His penman Peter—gives a beautiful description of the inheritance that every believer ultimately receives.

The passage begins by telling us that it is by God’s great mercy we have been born again; and that because God the Father raised Christ the Son from the dead, we can live with eager anticipation of the inheritance we will receive on the last day.

Peter then goes on to define this inheritance as one that is priceless by any standard, with no monetary sum huge enough to cover it.

He assures us that it is being kept for us in heaven, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

Throughout all time, it will be there, just waiting for us to return home.
