Celebrating Tulsa's trailblazer, Mayor Monroe Nichols, who made history as the city's first Black mayor. From the halls of the Oklahoma House to City Hall, Nichols is tackling Tulsa's challenges head-on, with ambitious plans to address homelessness, improve education, and foster unity. His leadership marks a new chapter in Tulsa's story, bridging past and present to create a brighter future.

This week we're honoring Ed Goodwin, a pillar of Tulsa's Black community and longtime publisher of The Oklahoma Eagle. From surviving the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre as a teenager to transforming the Eagle into a powerful voice for civil rights, Goodwin's legacy of resilience and advocacy continues to echo through Greenwood's streets today.

Today we celebrate Wayman Tisdale, a beloved Tulsa legend whose impact extends far beyond his remarkable basketball and music careers. From dominating the courts at Booker T. Washington High School to becoming an NBA star, Wayman's athletic abilities were matched by his musical talent.

His legacy lives on through the Wayman Tisdale Foundation and his influence within the community is honored through the Wayman Tisdale Fine Arts Academy and the The University of Oklahoma Tulsa's Wayman Tisdale Clinic, allowing Wayman's legacy to leave a lasting mark on Tulsa.
