So far this month, The Opp has held SIX trainings, reaching over 100 youth-serving professionals! Here are some snaps from our Reframing Conflict training with the Tulsa Zoo! We always enjoy spending time with our friends at the Zoo! ⭐

In honor and celebration of Memorial Day last month, Tulsa EnrichED leaders Mark Hankins and Donna Key organized a Flag Retirement Ceremony. Salk families, the Tulsa Fire Department, the local H.O.G. chapter, local news outlets, elected officials, school board members, and more came together to eat, play, listen to music, and attend the ceremony!

👏 Exciting news! The Opp is growing! This month, we happily welcomed four fantastic new team members: a dedicated summer intern, a Tulsa Service Year Fellow, and two enthusiastic full-time Program Associates. Get ready to see some fresh faces around here!

Tulsa Service Year George Kaiser Family Foundation

In Ms. Vilar’s Card Games Club this spring, youth first practiced shuffling cards before learning the rules of and playing different card games! Want to lead a club like this one at your school in the Fall? Our Tulsa EnrichED application opens July 13th! Learn more at theopp.org.

Some kids spent their afterschool hours on a screen.... The kids in NASA Kids built a rocket! Huge shoutout to Mr. Hankins', Mrs. Key's, and the NASA Kids Club at Salk Elementary on an incredible year. 🚀

Celebrating the end of the year with Ms. Lewallen's Japanese Club at Celia Clinton Elementary! This year, some of the things students in the Japanese Club learned were ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), kokeshi dolls, how to write/say thank you in Japanese, Ukiyo-e art (which uses stamps to make a picture), hanami (flower viewing), the koinobori used for Children’s Day celebrations, uchiwa fans, how to use chopsticks, and origami.

🐧 Have you ever met a penguin?! Our team visited the Tulsa Zoo to explore their education space and connect with their team ahead of our summer programming. Building partnerships like this is truly the heart of what we do at The Opp, and we're so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow with the Tulsa Zoo!
