Last month I had the opportunity to go to Savannah Lakes Elementary in Rosharon, TX (a suburb of Houston). I participated in the first annual "Wrap It Up Academic Meet". Students from Svannah Lakes Elementary competed with students from Don Jeter Elementary for Wrap-up supremecy.

Carrie Pena organized the event. It was well supported by parents and even the local Mayor came to show her support. I took the opportunity to challenge some of the winners in a head to head competition and was challenged to my limit.

It is so fun to see schools catch the vision of what Learning Wrap-ups can do, and understand the importance of having a solid foundation and automatic recall of basic math facts. These students will have a big advantage in Middle School and High School math because the will focus on the math that is being taught, not on the simple equations that are only a small part of the bigger problem.
