Friday, July 25 is final presentations for Impact Academy! This year, 11 interns completed projects for 3 clients: A Way Home for Tulsa, , and .

Our Fall 2024 Mine Cohort began today! With 7 different projects, we are exploring different needs in education (from Pre-K all the way through post-graduate), anti-racism in theology, affordable housing solutions, humanizing divorce, and assisted living. Stay tuned for ongoing updates from this INCREDIBLE cohort!

What types of activities would y’all like to do at Impact Academy this summer??

An important mindset in Design Thinking is Make It! When the goal is to get impactful solutions out into the world you can’t stay in the realm of theory. You have to make your ideas real.

We have a bias toward action, and that means getting ideas out of our heads and into the hands of the people we’re looking to serve. In the end, it doesn’t matter what you use, or how beautiful the result is, the goal is always to convey an idea, share it, and learn how to make it better.

James recalls, “My time in the Mine Fellowship was transformational. I learned to think about problems not as an expert, but from the perspective of the people experiencing the problems. The practice of human centered design has now become a key tenant of my work in city government...The Mine prepared me for taking the next step in leadership and civic engagement that has helped me to serve the residents of Tulsa.”

As part of our community programming at I-CCEW, we lead Community-facing Professional Development programs and events in innovation, technology, consulting, and entrepreneurship, largely based in concepts of Design Thinking.

With over 500 participants annually, this is one of our favorite ways to collaborate!
