Sometimes I wish I lived "back in the day" along the banks of the Mississippi, enjoying the carefree & relaxing life of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. It seems that the stress is at an all time high. Someone is always needing to collect on a bill or has a problem to be fixed. Other people are calling out for my attention and efforts for what seems a never ending stream of emergencies... always someone out there wanting something from me. Fishing, relaxing in the sun, enjoying a good swim followed by an afternoon nap sounds like a much better life. Anything you could do or strings you could pull to make that work out for me?

Bowl Them Over… Tired of all of the football games? I am. I love football, really I do. It's just too much. 34 bowl games, really? 1978 was the year I got my driver's permit, and there were also only 8 bowl games to choose from. Going to a bowl game meant something special. You were a champion, the top of the heap, one of the best. Today you can have a 50% win/loss for the season and still go to a bowl. How did we get from there to here, 8 bowls of champions to 34 bowls with mediocre teams?

An insatiable desire by the masses to watch modern day gladiators spar in multiple finales to what were otherwise neutered seasons? I'm thinking not...
The natural result of children in Pop Warner leagues with horrible seasons ALL receiving trophies no matter how terribly they played? Ummm, maybe, but probably not...

Leading Through the Hurt and Hardship
2020 & 2021 were definitely challenging days to live through.

We saw a pandemic that affected the entire world. Out of that pandemic came a cascade of consequences. We had:

Deaths of loved ones and friends...Economic devastation of small businesses...Emotional and mental health challenges due to lockdowns...Educational damage to our children due to school closures and distance learning...Intense political divisions over responses to the pandemic, and the 2020 election...

Things seemed to settle down & move back toward a "mostly normal" pre-pandemic life in the days following. Following life changing times in our lives, it is inherent that lead. When You Hit The DIP… I love roller coasters! Some people fight over the front car, others love the last car; my favorite place to sit is on the fence line around the roller coaster, watching the people riding the roller coaster! While some are terrified, others are laughing and having the time of their lives! It's hilarious to watch! While one person in a car is crying their eyes out and holding on for dear life, the person next to them in the same car has both arms held up towards the sky while they squeal for joy! Why is that? In this world of social media, political correctness and an upside down culture, it seems everyone has an opinion on just about everything. Family, friends, bosses and strangers are quick to pop in their two cents, and give you their solicited and unsolicited advice.
Dads are some of the best advice givers in the world. I know not everyone has or had an amazing dad. I did! He was one of the wisest people I ever knew, and there are still days, even as someone bumping 60 years of age, that I wish I could pick up the phone and get his input on a problem, issue or task.
"Dadvice" has several very strong facets. Dads typically offer what I call the "long view" on stuff when you're getting their advice. Dads are planners and tend to focus on the Big Picture in life.
