The Oklahoma Parents Center (OPC) would like to announce our upcoming 14th Annual Statewide Conference “Building Relationships…Creating Successful Change” on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The conference will be held at the Osage Casino and Hotel – Tulsa, Conference Center, 951 West 36th Street North, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This conference is designed to educate parents, families and professionals in building partnerships that meet the needs of children and youth with the full range of disabilities ages’ birth to 26. As with every statewide conference, there will be great speakers, much information shared, lunch, and plenty of door prizes.
We expect this year’s conference to be a huge success with expected attendance of 300!

How Can I Register?
The conference is limited to the first 300 people that register. All others will be placed on a waiting list. There is no fee for this year’s conference; however, you must register.

When you ask most people about what an Oklahoma Works American Job Center is, many will refer to the locations as an "unemployment office." Contrary to popular belief, Oklahoma Works American Job Centers offer much more than just assistance with unemployment. Oklahoma Works locations provide an integrated array of high-quality services for workers, job seekers and businesses can receive the help that they need under one roof including enrollments for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Comprehensive locations such as Sapulpa, Tahlequah and Okmulgee provide the most services offered by multiple state, federal and non-profit partners. Affiliate locations, such as Tulsa and Muskogee have one or more partnered programs available, but do not offer all of the services a comprehensive center would.

Graduating from high school soon? Not sure what your next steps are? Do you want to pursue an in-demand position, but don't know where to start? These are all good questions that you may not know the answer to on your own. The traditional college route may not the best choice for you, but it is an option. Want to learn about other options that are available to you? If the traditional college route is not your goal, there are many opportunities to receive direct training for in demand careers, or a work experience to get soft skills for direct employers and more. Stop by an Oklahoma Works American Job Center, speak with a Youth Career Navigator or apply online today. You have choices!

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 enacted a comprehensive youth employment program to serve eligible youth, ages 16-24, who face barriers to education, training, and employment. The program works with participants to build the skills necessary to explore/develop careers, pursue education, occupational skills training, gain work experiences, and employment. The program also provides incentive payments to eligible enrolled/active youth participants based on properly documented attainment of benchmarks and goals. Apply online to learn more today!
