Q: What is a sewer scope inspection?

A: A sewer scope inspection is a camera-led scoping of the lateral sewer line only. The scope begins at the house and navigates via a long cable line to the end of the lateral sewer line. A sewer scope inspection does NOT include scoping of all of the plumbing throughout the home. The homeowner owns the lateral sewer line, and it's the homeowner's responsibility to maintain that sewer line.

A camera inspection is the only way to discover issues within the lateral sewer line once the sewer line is buried. Common issues that are identified during a sewer scope inspection include tree root intrusion, cast iron pipes, orangeburg piping, bellies in the line, off-sets in the pipes, scaling, cracks/clogs in the pipes, line collapse, etc.

Following the recent hailstorm, the City of Collinsville is reminding residents to stay cautious of roofing contractor scams.

If you believe you may have been targeted by a suspicious roofing company or contractor, please report the activity to the Collinsville Police Department non-emergency line at 918-371-1000.

When making a report, try to provide as much information as possible, including:

Contractor or company names
License plate numbers
Contracts or receipts
Text messages or emails
Photos, business cards, or other communication

Your report may help protect other homeowners from scams during storm recovery efforts.
