Today is the final day to submit an entry for consideration for the Mavis Staples Freedom Highway Essay Award. Inspired by and named in honor of the legendary R&B singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples, and supported by center Founding Partners Bob Ramsey and Jenny Norton, the Freedom Highway Essay Award provides high-school students with an opportunity to explore the ways in which music can serve as a catalyst for positive change. Participants will reflect on themes of social justice as it is shaped and reflected by music. Open to students in 11th and 12th grades in the Tulsa Public Schools district. Our faithful friends and patrons, we have so loved working with you to showcase, encourage, appreciate, and enjoy local artistry. To have shared thoughts, friendship and drink with you. It is you who have made this journey so wonderful. We will be taking away warm loving memories and hope the same for you.

Mainline will be keeping our regular hours through this month of December (closed Christmas Day.) So come on in! Have a drink. Sing a tune. Help us wrap up this journey with some love and laughter.
