Divorce rates have dropped for younger adults. For people over 50, they've risen sharply β and have been rising for decades.
Researchers point to longer life expectancy, financial independence, and couples who reach retirement only to realize they've grown apart. Gray divorce usually isn't one big moment. It's years of distance, loneliness, or wanting different things.
The couples who thrive in the second half of life keep investing in each other β friendship, honest conversations, shared goals. Those habits matter at 30 years just as much as they did at the beginning.
If something feels off, earlier conversations are almost always easier than later ones. And if you need support, LIFE is here. Call SeniorLine free at (918) 664-9000 or visit

The real cost of care isn't what you think β and it's not what you're picturing either.
Let's talk real numbers, because nobody else will. A home aide for 20 hours a week runs about $3,030 a month at the national median rate. Add property taxes, utilities, insurance, and upkeep on a paid-off home, and aging in place costs closer to $4,430 a month. That's before groceries. Before a mortgage, if there is one.
Assisted living has a national median of $6,200 a month, and that usually covers meals, housekeeping, and transportation. Extra help with medication, bathing, or memory care can add $500 to $2,000 more. A nursing home private room runs about $10,800 a month.
Here's the part that surprises people: once home care hits 30-40 hours a week, assisted living is often the cheaper option. Shared staffing changes the math.
And here's the part we can actually help with.
πLIFE's PACE program covers medical care, therapy, and support services for qualifying older adults β often at little to no out-of-pocket cost.
πAdult Day Health gives caregivers a safe, engaging place for their loved one during the workday, at a fraction of home aide rates.
πSeniorLine is free and can walk you through every option above, in plain language, before you spend a dollar.
You don't have to figure this out alone or guess at the math. Call SeniorLine at (918) 664-9000 to talk through your options.

We often spend money trying to make life better for the people we love. But some of the most meaningful gifts we can give our aging parents donβt cost a penny. These simple things can preserve dignity, strengthen relationships, and remind our parents that they still matter.
What would you add to this list? π

Caregiving shows up in the small moments. Getting someone ready in the morning. Driving to an appointment. Sitting with them when things feel uncertain. Most of us will do this for someone we love β a parent, a partner, a neighbor. It's one of the most human things we do.
We believe no family should carry that work alone. Our team helps caregivers find the support, resources, and breathing room they need to keep showing up for the people they love.
If you're caring for someone right now, we see you. And we're here to help. LIFE offers Caregiver Support services. Call SeniorLine today - (918) 664-9000.
