Our Church Studio family is mourning the loss of bass player Justin Cary.

Working with and recording Sixpence None the Richer was a beautiful experience for our team. Leigh Nash and the band were gracious, talented, and a joy to be around. Justin, who also managed the band, was kind, genuine, and greatly respected. Our experience with him was appreciated by our engineers and staff.

He will be so missed. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, bandmates, and all who loved him. Justin Cary: 1975-2026

Carl Radle, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on this day, was one of the greatest session bassists ever to record at The Church Studio. His career spanned projects ranging from Mad Dogs & Englishmen and The Concert for Bangladesh to Eric Clapton’s 461 Ocean Boulevard. Pictured here is Carl in the control room with engineer Tom Russell, circa 1974.
