This young lady called yesterday and asked if she could paint something on our windows for the holidays. She is an artist wanting to do more of these for people. She said she would do it for free so she could promote and have more for her portfolio. I liked her gumption and said I would at least pay her something, I couldn’t let her do it for free. I suggested a little dragon reading a book amongst some pumpkins, to help us promote our FableRealm Bookstore, and this is what she came up with! Great job!

Fun facts!

The words “bookstore” and “bookshop” did not come into use until the early 1760s. But that doesn’t mean bookstores didn’t exist.

Long before Benjamin Franklin became a Founding Father, he established “Franklin’s New Printing-Office” in Philadelphia in 1728. His shop also sold a variety of books (many imported from London), along with paper, ink, quills, and other supplies for readers and writers. Franklin’s wife, Deborah, helped run the business, managing much of its day-to-day operation and bookkeeping.

So, if you lived in Colonial America and were hankering to read the latest fiction, you could walk into Franklin’s Philadelphia shop and buy yourself a book.

Our William The Artist has been busy designing our FableRealm characters which we will use in Bookmarks, ornaments, stickers, t-shirts, etc. Here we see the prince and princess of FableRealm and the great dragon of FableRealm. In our story the dragon is the protector of FableRealms treasured books. He was once a teacher of dragons, with one of his magical powers being that whatever he reads or imagines, can be seen on his wings. Think, magical chalkboard for his classroom. Here he is reading a book on astronomy. His other power is that he can grow enormously large.
